Port Captain / Port Operations Officer to WALLENIUS SOL Germany (Lübeck)

WALLENIUS SOL is growing, and we are now looking for a dedicated Port Captain / Port Operations Officer to join our operations team in Lübeck. The role suits someone with a strong background in maritime or terminal operations, who thrives in a hands‑on environment close to the vessels and enjoys working with many different stakeholders.

As Port Captain, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality port calls for our fleet. We are looking for someone who is structured, communicative and solution‑oriented, with the ability to remain calm and focused in a dynamic operational setting.

About the Role

In this position, you are responsible for the execution and coordination of all vessel-related activities during port calls. You act as the operational link between vessels, terminals, agents, and our head office in Gothenburg. Your daily work will include planning, supervision, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and supervising all vessel operations within the terminal
• Ensuring efficient and safe loading and discharging processes
• Acting as Cargo Planner for your designated port
• Identifying operational performance gaps and implementing improvements
• Serving as the main contact point between vessels, terminals, agents, and HQ
• Managing safety, quality, and weekly operational reporting

Your Profile

To succeed in this role, we believe you have experience within port, terminal, or vessel operations. You enjoy working close to daily operations, have strong communication skills, and can handle short decision paths in a fast‑moving environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience from port, terminal, or vessel operations (RoRo experience is an advantage)
• Possesses strong knowledge of maritime processes and regulations
• Is hands‑on, proactive and solution‑oriented
• Can maintain structure and calm during busy operational periods
• Speaks fluent German and has good English skills
• Is willing to occasionally work outside regular office hours based on vessel schedules
